Job Description
We are seeking a Tax Collector 2 to join our team supporting the client and participating counties and cities. The role manages assigned tax collection cases across Individual Income, Corporate Income, Withholding, and Transaction Privilege Tax (TPT). The Tax Collector will resolve liabilities and delinquencies through phone outreach and scheduled field visits, educate taxpayers on resources and policies, and promote voluntary compliance. Success requires sound judgment, service orientation, and a positive attitude.
Responsibilities:
- Review taxpayer accounts and verify, gather, and update key information across systems.
- Contact taxpayers by phone to resolve delinquent tax liabilities and negotiate payment arrangements.
- Schedule and conduct field visits to residences, places of employment, and business locations as needed.
- Educate taxpayers on online resources, current tax policies, and methods to obtain and maintain compliance.
- Review financial statements and supporting documentation to assess ability to pay.
- Document actions taken in multiple systems with accuracy and timeliness.
- Participate in seizures and sales of assets and/or inventory to satisfy delinquent liabilities, including lien determination, valuation, securing property, preparing and conducting public auctions, and moving assets for sale setup.
- Meet performance expectations and participate in team engagement activities.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Workspace at a basic level.
- Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Clear written and verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated problem-solving ability and goal orientation with strong retention of new knowledge.
- Experience: Two most recent roles each at least one consecutive year in a fast-paced call center within banking/finance, insurance, or telecommunications (non-technical support). Short stint work history is unlikely to be considered.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred Skills:
- Spanish-speaking.
- Participation in process improvement activities.
- Education: Associate's degree or higher.

Additional Information
- Hybrid role. Training is onsite for 3-6 weeks, estimated 6 weeks, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Attendance is critical.
- Operating hours are 8:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Schedule will fall within these hours.
- Candidates must live in the Greater Phoenix Metro area and attend first-day orientation in person.
- Hardwired internet with sufficient bandwidth required. If using a 5G router, bring it on day 1 for IT configuration.
- Ability to transport issued equipment between office and home (micro desktop, two monitors, keyboard, mouse, headset). Public transportation is not suitable for equipment transport.
