Pay rate: $50/hr on W2
Note: Proficient in SCM and build tools (SVN, GIT, TFS, Jenkins, Azure DevOps), Unix/Linux systems, IIS/Apache administration, scripting (.NET, Perl, PowerShell, Shell), VMWare, and ticketing tools (Footprints, ServiceNow); Progress 4GL a plus.
Job Description:
Position Summary
The Software Configuration Management (SCM) Specialist will provide program-level SCM support by managing parallel software development and release cycles, ensuring version control integrity, and supporting build and release processes. This role involves close collaboration with cross-functional IT teams to troubleshoot issues, maintain documentation, and enhance operational efficiency through process automation and scripting.

Key Responsibilities

• Enforce and maintain SCM processes for code commits, messages, approvals, and release procedures.
  
• Ensure repository integrity and manage version control across multiple development streams.
  
• Review and monitor committed code for accuracy, quality, and compliance with standards.
  
• Perform code merges, manual compilations, and troubleshooting of build and compilation errors.
  
• Collaborate with development, QA, and operations teams to resolve post-release issues.
  
• Identify and triage software versus environment-related issues.
  
• Develop and maintain process-improvement scripts (ksh, bash, Perl, Python, ANT, PCT).
  
• Support organizational quality and performance programs.

• Proficient with ticketing systems including Footprints and ServiceNow.
  
• Experienced in Unix/Linux/AIX command-line operations.
  
• Strong negotiation skills.
  
• Bonus skills: Progress 4GL and scripting (ksh, bash, Perl, Python, ANT, PCT).
  

Qualifications
Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field preferred.
  

Experience:

• Proven experience in Software Configuration Management, Release Management, or related software development lifecycle processes.

Skills & Technical Knowledge

• Proficiency with SCM tools such as Subversion (SVN), CVS, GIT, and TFS.
  
• Experience with build management tools (MSBuild, Ant, Make, Jenkins, Azure DevOps).
  
• Strong command-line experience with Unix/Linux/AIX environments.
  
• Experience administering Windows, UNIX, or Linux systems and managing web services (IIS, Apache).
  
• Familiarity with scripting and automation using .NET, Perl, PowerShell, or shell scripting.
  
• Working knowledge of VMWare environments.
  
• Hands-on experience with ticketing systems such as Footprints and ServiceNow.
  
• Progress 4GL experience is a plus.
