Position Title: Network Engineering Specialist
Location: Salt Lake City, UT 84104
Anticipated Start Date: 5/26/2025

Expected Duration: 12 months Contract (with possibility of extension)
Job Type: Contract, 40 HRS WEEKLY.
Pay: $60 -65.69/Hour.

Network Design & Architecture IP Network Design:

• Knowledge of IP addressing, subnetting, routing, and switching for creating network topologies that work in underground environments.

LAN/WAN:

• Design and management of Local Area Networks (LANs) and Wide Area Networks (WANs), including their installation and configuration, especially in complex, distributed underground settings.

  Mesh Networks:
  Understanding and setting up mesh network systems that are often used in mines for creating resilient communication links across large and remote areas.

Wireless Communication SystemsWi-Fi & LTE Network Design:

• Expertise in deploying wireless communication networks like Wi-Fi or LTE in underground environments, addressing interference, signal range, and power constraints.

RF Comunication Systems:

• Expertise in Radio Frequency (RF) systems and their optimization for use in underground mines, including the use of RF scanners and signal boosters.
• Fiber Optic NetworkingFiber Optic Cable Installation & Testing: Proficient in the installation and maintenance of fiber optic cables, ensuring proper splicing, termination, and testing to achieve maximum signal integrity.

High-speed Data Transmission:

• Ensuring the proper setup of fiber-optic systems for high-speed data transfer between various underground locations and surface operations.
  Electrical Systems & Power ManagementLow Voltage Systems:
• Expertise in designing and installing low-voltage communication and data systems for underground applications.

Power Supply for Network Equipment:

• Knowledge of providing reliable power to communication devices, including battery backup systems and redundancy solutions to ensure constant uptime.
  Electrical Troubleshooting:
• Ability to troubleshoot and maintain the electrical systems that power the underground communication network.

Network SecurityEncryption:

• Implementing encryption methods (e.g., SSL/TLS, IPsec) to secure communication channels, protecting sensitive data from unauthorized access.

Firewalls & VPNs:

• Configuring and managing firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems (IDS/IPS), and Virtual Private Networks (VPNs) to ensure the integrity and confidentiality of the network.Authentication Protocols:
• Implementing strong authentication systems, such as two-factor authentication (2FA), and integrating them into the network for better security.
• Network Monitoring & TroubleshootingNetwork Performance

Monitoring Tools:

• Using tools like SolarWinds, Wireshark, or PRTG to continuously monitor network performance, identifying issues such as bottlenecks or downtime.

Troubleshooting Techniques:

• Diagnosing and fixing issues related to connectivity, interference, and equipment malfunctions using methods like ping tests, traceroutes, and signal analyzers.Signal Loss Detection: Identifying and resolving problems related to signal degradation, especially in wireless and fiber-optic networks in the underground environment.
