Job Description
We are seeking an Infrared Signature Engineering Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in infrared signature analysis, survivability toolsets, and thermofluid systems, and a proven ability to deliver actionable analysis, testing, and design guidance across the product lifecycle.
Responsibilities:
- Perform infrared analysis of fixed- and rotary-wing aircraft, missiles, marine craft, and associated propulsion systems, including airframes and exhaust plumes, using commercial, military, customer, and internal survivability codes.
- Prepare and deliver analysis results in formal and informal design reviews.
- Plan and execute infrared testing of exhaust systems using IR camera hardware in ground and flight test environments.
- Design low observable infrared exhaust systems for aircraft, missile, and marine platforms.
- Apply systems engineering to define whole engine fluid systems and resolve system-level issues in collaboration with Thermofluids, Engine Performance, Controls, Installations, Turbines, Compressors, Combustion, and Power Transmission teams.
- Define and complete technical work packages, evaluate technologies, implement systematic approaches, mentor junior engineers, and improve IR signature design and analysis processes and guides.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics with 2+ years of relevant experience; or a Master's degree in Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics; or a JD/PhD.
- 5-6 years of hands-on infrared analysis experience, ideally in aerospace.
- Proficiency in programming such as FORTRAN, Visual Basic, and/or C++.
- Experience in infrared analysis of hot parts and exhaust plumes for aircraft propulsion systems.
- Experience with survivability analysis and common industry toolsets.
- Experience with gas turbine engine exhaust analysis.
- Background in thermodynamics, gas dynamics, fluid mechanics, and/or engine design.
- Experience performing and reviewing heat transfer and thermal modeling and analysis.
- Experience with secondary air, oil, fuel, or thermal management system design, modeling, and analysis for gas turbines.
- Experience with Thermofluid Systems tools such as SPAN, SC03, AMESim, Simscape, Fluent, STAR-CCM+, or NPSS.
- Experience with workflow automation for preliminary system or component design.
Preferred Skills:
- Master's degree.
- Experience spanning IR physics and optics in addition to thermal analysis.

Role Logistics
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, standard business hours; 5 days on-site.

Eligibility Requirements
- U.S. citizenship required.
- Active Secret clearance or eligible for reinstatement within the allowable window.
- Accredited Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Physics, or Mathematics (engineering degree with minor in math or physics acceptable).
