Job Description
We are seeking a Chemical Engineer I to join our dynamic team supporting the clients PWP Digital Web Presses in an R&D environment. The ideal candidate will have strong experience in electro-mechanical troubleshooting, equipment operations, and firmware/software upgrades and a proven ability to diagnose complex issues, implement repairs, and partner with R&D to advance development objectives.
Responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain multiple PWP Digital Web Presses.
- Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve press and test tooling issues.
- Install and support hardware, software, and firmware upgrades and revisions.
- Perform repair, maintenance, and equipment modifications per engineering direction.
- Dismantle, adjust, repair, and assemble equipment using plans, manuals, and drawings.
- Support firmware qualifications and manage upgrade activities.
- Escalate issues proactively and effectively on behalf of R&D customers.
- Contribute as a skilled specialist to new concepts and techniques in tooling and process improvements.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- AA/AS in Business or a Technical field, or equivalent education and related experience.
- Analytical and mathematical ability with fundamentals in one or more of chemistry, physics, materials science, electronics, or optics.
- Electro-mechanical experience with large industrial equipment.
- Proficiency with MS Access, Word, and Excel.
- Ability to troubleshoot and debug software and mechanical issues on test tools.
- Effective verbal and written communication, including 1:1 and group presentations.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced R&D setting with frequent changes.
- Ability to read electrical schematics.
- Knowledge of Lockout/Tagout safety procedures.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with Web Presses or comparable industrial press equipment.
- Background supporting R&D environments and collaboration with test/manufacturing engineers.
